VA Requirements - 3M's
Military Service
Minimum 90 days active duty, with at least one day durting wartime, and an honorable discharge.
Gulf war veterans must have served for 2 years active duty, or the full period for which they were called active duty.Medical Condition
Non-service connected disability which requires assistance with daily living.
Money Limitation
A net worth (income & assets) at or less than $150,538 (as of 12.1.2022).

- Transportation
- Transferring to and from bed
- Medication reminders
- Meal preparation
- Laundry

When to Refer to the Vet Assist Program
Military Screening
- Is he/she a veteran or the surviving spouse of a deceased
wartime veteran who needs help to live safely at home? - Did the veteran serve at least 1 day during wartime? (WWII, Korean Conflict, Vietnam Era, Persian Gulf War)
- Did the veteran serve at least 90 days on active duty with an honorable discharge?
- Is he/she a veteran or the surviving spouse of a deceased
Medical Screening
- Does the veteran or surviving spouse have a medical
condition causing the need for assistance with activities
of daily living? (i.e.— help with bathing, dressing, grooming,
using the toilet, meal preparation, moving about safely.) - Does the veteran or surviving spouse want to use their
VA Pension with Aid and Attendance primarily for in-home
care or adult daycare?
- Does the veteran or surviving spouse have a medical
Monitary Screening
- Does he/she have a net worth (income + assets) at or less than $150,538?
- A primary residence and auto are not counted as part of net worth.
Ongoing non-reimbursable medical expenses may reduce the
annual countable income.
